About CarbonSource

We make embodied carbon assessment fast enough to happen on every home plan, not just the few that can afford a consultant.

Why we started

A production builder can build hundreds of homes a year from a handful of plans. Knowing the embodied carbon of each plan, and how to lower it, is worth a lot: buyers, lenders and cities are starting to ask, and the federal government already requires whole-building assessments on its own major projects.

The obstacle was never the carbon arithmetic. It was the takeoff: reading a plan set and measuring every assembly by hand before any tool could give an answer. CarbonSource removes that step, so a builder can see the carbon of a plan while the spec is still open.

How we work

Show the evidence. Every number names the sheet and the text it was read from. Anything assumed says so.

Use published data. Carbon factors come from EPDs and recognised datasets, with their source and validity on every line.

Test on real plans. Every change is checked against a library of real drawing sets, including all 48 designs in the CMHC Housing Design Catalogue.

Built in Edmonton
